Challenge 919: Le Mignonisme
Le Mignonisme is the title of a series of artwork to be found around La Rochelle this summer, by artist Philippe Katerine. The title is taken from the French 'mignon', which loosely translates as 'cute'.

This pair look like they need to be holding something back. But what?

High res is here.

If this is his stock in trade, no comment.

If you hadn't named the artist I would have guessed it to be Jeff Koons.

Hmmmmm. I have the germ of an idea brewing .........

These funny pink cartoony figures with their arms out protectively put me instantly in mind of those computer games where you pop coloured blocks to free someone from advancing spikes, chainsaws, flames, etc.

This is all you will see of me for the next two weeks as I am off to Vienna to deal with some business there.

Thank you. It was quite difficult but lots of fun.

Thanks David, and I agree with Mariner, well done...!

I am now suffering from 'pink overload', if I don't see the color pink for the rest of the year, I won't miss it.

Re: Challenge 909: Le Mignonisme
I am rather baffled by this bookshelf image. I thought the odd ripple effect was glass fronting - hence the little fellow with his hands against the inside of the glass. But, in that case, the books spilling over the bottom shelf are puzzling.

Until I saw the full face view you used Ant it never occurred to me to search the web for more of these fellows. I see there are dozens of them. How incredibly stupid of me not to have done that!

I think my wits were not at their best. Within a few hours of posting my entry I was feeling terrible and decided to test. Bingo! Covid positive!

I seem to have been incredibly lucky as, after just a couple of bedridden days of feeling like total s**t, it seems to be on the retreat.

I am now out of my bed and sitting in my isolated corner of our home office at my disinfected desk typing with disinfected hands. I have to quarantine from my own wife until Sunday but, all things said and done, for a high risk man just shy of eighty, I definitely have many blessings to count.

This does mean that Vienna, where I should be now, has had to be postponed. So you're all going to have to put up with me for a few weeks longer.

David, sorry to hear you picked up the dreaded Covid - hopefully a quick recovery.
As you know I contacted it awhile back - I still have some lingering affects and flashbacks of some symptoms (although mild but annoying) - doctor said could last 3 months.
Good Luck

Been awhile since I submitted an animation so in order to keep the old brain refreshed I hereby submit one I'd put together awhile back plus one for this weeks challenge.
Beware of whitening hair and bulging bellies, not to mention too many birthdays.

David, sorry to hear you have Covid. It's no joke. Let's hope you make a quick and complete recovery.

Now get back to work! Joke.

Re: Challenge 909: Le Mignonisme
Thanks for the good wishes. I am feeling very groggy but, now the worst seems to be past, sitting at my computer is a lot better than lying in bed feeling sorry for myself.

Frank your video is just how I feel sometimes ...........

Thanks to Ant I went searching and found more of these chubby little fellows. Here are a couple of them (including of course Steve's to keep things legit).
