Challenge 946: Updating Barney

I was commissioned last week to produce an illustration to do with the new version of Barney the Dinosaur, who has been updated by the TV studio.

The news outlet wanted an image that would illustrate their interviews with palaeontologists, about how realistic Barney was compared to real dinosaurs (not very, as it unsurprisingly turns out).

The image below shows the old and new versions of Barney.

What would you come up with for a story like this?

I'll post my version next Friday. Sorry for two prehistoric Challenges in a row!

The new one is even less dinosaur like than his predecessor. Does he have a hidden tail? Without that I would never even guess he was a dinosaur. He looks a like a 'hayseed' version of a teletubby.

I have a strong feeling I may pass on this one.

In answer to my own question he does have a tail. Just Googled him.

In the first hundred or so Google images only a tiny, tiny handful show his tail. Why? It's the only thing 'dinosaur' about him.

According to new research, archaeologists and palaeontologists are in dispute over the belief that the closest living relative of the dinosaur is the chicken.

Good one Frank. Colors is about all mine has going for it... comparing Barney to the real thing is hardly worth the effort unless getting paid for it...
