Challenge 1024: Dental pain
I took my son to have dental implants fitted recently, and spent some time sitting in the waiting room. Everything here seems to be designed to make visitors uncomfortable, from the ghastly jarring wallpaper to the lack of hands on the clock, to the handful of twigs in the fireplace. Can you make this room more welcoming? High res is here.  |

I think I actually prefer my dentist's rather shabby old health posters and the TV that's been playing the same re-runs of Monk for three years now! What I can't quite get my head around is that somebody obviously wanted to please. While this may not look like much, I was surprised by how difficult, complex, and time consuming it was to achieve. I wanted to use more photos for the 'You Tube' screen, but the file size simply grew too large.

Hmmmmm ................... 
This really rather unlovely image was inspired (if that's not too grandiose a word) by an only too real dentist and his display cabinet in Marrakesh who I once had to visit in an emergency.

Ha... real? I dunno, found it in a google search for 'dental themed wallpaper'. If real, they couldn't have sold it to more than one customer.
I don't think I would want to have an emergency in Marrakesh. |

Well done everyone so far for exceeding the limits of good taste in so many different ways.
When I read Loyd's comment "I was surprised by how difficult, complex, and time consuming it was to achieve.“ I was quite surprised. I didn't see it. Having now worked this image quite a bit I have to agree with him completely. Parts of it are surprisingly and unexpectedly intractable! I am indebted to Ben for triggering this idea with his bizarre dental furnishings. Dawood and Tanner's cannibalisation of the classic Aarnio ball chair was not entirely well received by their clients who deemed them 'extremely uncomfortable' and of 'questionable taste'.  _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |
