Challenger 1054: The flying palace
News in this week that Donald Trump is to accept a gift of a replacement for Air Force One from Qatar, a $400 million converted Boeing 747 billed as a "flying palace". Knowing Mr Trump's fondness for the gaudy, just how lavish would this palace have to be to impress the president? High(ish) res of stripped-out Boeing 747, if you want to use it as a starting point, is here. ![]() |

Re: Challenger 1054: The flying palace
Sadly I am away all week and will only have one day to look at this. Mind you just a quick initial research into billionaire and royal private jets has opened a pandora's box of luxurious vulgarity and extravagance that leaves Trump's New York penthouse looking like a vicarage! I had no idea! Boggling doesn't even begin to describe what some of these do to the mind ........... _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Re: Challenger 1054: The flying palace
I can sort of get my head round the gold, but what on earth is it about cream leather that seems to have such billionaire appeal? _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

I'm completely burned out on gold after last weeks challenge, so I went with something a bit more conservative for starters... ![]() |

Says he can't justify the 747 for short trips to the office, so a 737 is first choice. ![]() |

Superb work Loyd! ![]() David I love your excellent layout; however, "if you look closely" the bed, the table, and the the sofa as well as Trump and Melania lack the necessary colour cast that the surrounding gold background demands. ![]() |

Re: Challenger 1054: The flying palace
Aha! You mean the whites would pick up reflected warmth from their surroundings and be less white? Very good point. However, as I am now in the throws of packing for a very early flight tomorrow, I can't go back to it. I am going to have to pretend artistic licence and leave them pristine .......... call it new American purity. ![]() _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Re: Challenger 1054: The flying palace
The splendid Gerhart (Gert) Fröbe. He had the most memorable 'one liner' of all the Bond Movies. On the topic of memorable, the Bond movies were famous of course for some very memorable 'Bond Girls'. When I were but a lad, I thought Ms Blackman was drop dead sexy ...... although she didn't quite beat Ursula coming out of the water in that white bikini with the knife in the belt! ![]() Many Bond movies later, I was at a movie party shortly after "Live and Let Die" was released. I was chatting with a group of people and mentioned, quite innocently, that I thought Jane Seymour, who played Solitaire, was miss-cast and was perhaps one of the least memorable of all the Bond girls. One of the girls in the group, kind of pretty and English golf clubby, looked a bit put out and wandered off. I thought "Oh dear! She must have worked with Jane (Make up? Hairdresser? Wardrobe?) and doesn't like your remark.". I was wondering whether to go over to her and try to make amends when the host came over and said with a big smile "I see you've just met Jane!". Seems I had just managed to undeniably prove my own point about memorability! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Later in the evening I did manage to get up the courage to speak with her. She was very gracious and admitted that she hated the part and never wanted to be thought of as a Bond girl. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Re: Challenger 1054: The flying palace
David, I have seen "Live and Let Die" and must admit that I have no memory of Jane Seymour... Ursula and Ms. Blackman were too overwhelming I suppose. Michael, external view needs some gold on it. ![]() |

Re: Challenger 1054: The flying palace
How about a view from the cockpit. The J3 Cub was added for a bit of drama. In reality the cub couldn't get that high and besides that, one of the escort fighter jets would have taken it out long before it got that close. ![]() |
