Challenge 1125: Dial a nook
I visited my physiotherapist recently, whose practice is based inside the Business Design Centre in Islington. It's an exhibition venue, and it's always interesting to see it between trade shows.

I discovered this converted telephone box on the upper level. What could it be for? I'm unable to imagine its intended purpose. Perhaps you can?

High res is here.

It's to sit in and use your mobile without disturbing others or being disturbed.

It takes me back to the very early days of mobiles when it was considered impolite to use them publicly in confined spaces. You would leave your restaurant table, for example, and take your phone outside. Same applied in any enclosed social or business occasion. You would leave the group not to disturb them and find somewhere private. It was a matter of simple consideration for others.

Those days are long gone now ................ that's sometimes a terrible shame ............. but I'm just an old fashioned grumpy.

I had a bit of advantage here, I've done & photographed a lot of trade shows. Featured here is Comic Palooza, Houston 2017.

Comicpalooza is the largest annual, multi-genre, comic book, science fiction, anime, gaming, and pop-culture convention in the Southern United States and is held in Houston, Texas.

Here we have comic con. It's UK and pan European. All the kids (and not so kids) come dressed as their favourite characters.

Ingrid and I have been many times. Not to participate dressed up, but to watch the spectacle. I've posted pictures here in the past. In many ways it's the nerdiest show on earth and in many ways wonderfully creative. Some of the home made costumes are incredible labour's of love.

It's the only expo in Belgium I've been to that doesn't offer reduced price tickets for seniors. I think it's not worth their while. On all the occasions we have been we were always the only over sixties to be seen ............ and we are both a long way over!

Sorry Steve rambling again.

Is it just me? Am I missing some key technique, or is cutting out the foreground railings as sadistically fiddly and evil as I am finding it?

I gave cutting out the railings a thought, and decided to do it only if absolutely necessary... when you finish it, you could always post it on a white background for the rest of us.

I think simple shame and embarrassment might inhibit me.

I found the Magic Wand remarkably effective here.

Despite the fact that it is often disappointing, that was, in the end, my main approach after trying Select and Mask and Colour Range. Maybe I had the latitudes wrong, but it left me with a lot of touch up .............. or maybe I'm just too lazy to face up to the need for that.

Sadly, after all the effort, I'm not sure-that the image I wanted justifies the effort.

Time to sleep on it before publishing ...........

Zoltar's fun.

Gordon that is one of those "Why on earth didn't I think of that!" images.

I cannot quite believe how much effort I have put into producing such a dull image!

Thanks David. Don’t know why but I can’t see your images; all I see is a tiny blue box with a question mark. Its as if it hadn’t been uploaded properly.

David - I clicked on the small icon and it opened for me... not dull at all, quite fun actually!

Gordon I'm having problems with Flickr. Sometimes the links don't work. Try right clicking the question mark, or if you have, try a different browser. All my links work in Chrome but some don't in Safari. I haven't a clue what's going on.

David, I think it is an issue with my iPad as I have just looked on my MAC and it shows ok.
