In my case I filled the layer mask with a 30% grey! It worked too! _________________ |

Thanks Anna Sweet 16 you know....a few boys have already suffered if you get my drift..poor chaps
And I agree with Pierre because in the end I started doing that too as it is hard to get an even result doing that with a tablet. But the thing here is to experiment. Take that tutorial as a base and go further with it as every photo will be different. |

I applied some make up, obviously made the lips a bit bigger, then did the "Dave Hill" thing. And to smooth out the skin I duplicated the layer, applied a Median filter and a layer mask (black) and then with a white brush using different opacities painted in the smooth skin..... ![]() |

Stephan, I love it! Got a great laugh since the screen stopped on the original picture, and I read your post. I scrolled down expecting an amazing work of art, then BAM! Lol. Still fantastic photoshopping, but a bit different result than I expected!
Cheers -Chris |

Perhaps im missing something here..... from a photographic point of view i cant see all that many uses of the dave hill look. Agreed he has immense talent of that there is no doubt both as a photographer and a photoshopper. Im sure for instance from a game developers point of view the dave hill experience is the ultimate. As his models all seem to have the appearance of playstation characters. Just googled dave hill and strangely enough there seems to be hundreds of people all wanting to copy his work and be just like dave hill. Stefan with your skill i dont think you need to emulate anybody (only to show how easy its done anyway) i think you can go one better than dave hill and create your own 'stefan' look with ease, maybe make your models look a little more real too
As a photographer its sometimes hard to be original, when you need inspiration, but how can you get inspiration without somehow copying someone else. But im a great believer in self belief and i think we all can be original. While dave hills look is different i think all of us can create a style dave himself will be jeleous of.

very true indeed, but sometimes you just wanna get that same look or method, just to know for yourself that you can do it :-) I do very different stuff anyway, but where I used to be obsessed with "real","authentic" or whatever one wants to call it, ( it meant e. g. getting very upset with an art-director when he only cropped a millimeter of my picture), since I've gone digital I do like all these "unreal" things....just can't help it
And as we are on the subject...just found another one today... http://www.smalldogimageworks.com/portfolio.html |
