2.5 Gigapixel picture
http://www.tpd.tno.nl/Pics/DII/gigazoom/Delft2.htm Dutch research institute TNO has unveiled what it believes is the largest digital photograph in the world. The image contains 2.5 gigapixels or 7.5 gigabyte worth of data. It is composed of 600 single images shot by a computer-controlled pan-tilt unit in 7 second intervals. Afterwards, all photos where stiched together using the capacity of 5 high-end pc's in about 24 hours time. If it looks blurry when you zoom in, wait for it to load. |

Stunning. But you do kind of wish they'd pointed the camera at something more interesting… |

That is remarkable you can even read the license plates of the cars in the car park - it's like one of those spy cameras you see in the movies were they can infinitely zoom in. _________________ mad as a badger and twice as furry |

Re: 2.5 Gigapixel picture
Steve, you kidding? That picture is so detailed I could look at it for ages. There's so much stuff to spot. I bet none of you can find the guy that's been cut in half due to a glitch ![]() |

Re: 2.5 Gigapixel picture
Well, you can see a whole town... Or the smears of the finger prints on the car windows. Actually it would have been nice if you could see some people in the picture, can anyone spot any? Also, another cool thing is it lets you save the webpage so you can view it offline. Now I can have one of the largest picture ever safely on my hard drive (Where it will never die). Thanks for posting the site Dezolat0r, really awesome. _________________ -Atomic |

No problem, glad you guys liked it ![]() I wouldn't recommend saving to your harddrive though. Not unless you want a 3+ day download time ![]() |

Re: 2.5 Gigapixel picture
Actually, if you zoom in on the red sidewalk toward the right side of the pic and follow it, you'll see a number of people missing various body parts. |

Re: 2.5 Gigapixel picture
For those of you living in rural Canada...... Expect to be able to see the picture on your screen sometime in July, of course, if you want to download it, that will be July 2006. ![]() |

Re: 2.5 Gigapixel picture
you didn't download the picture atomic, just the little flash file that displays the picture. _________________ Candy is dandy, but liquor is quicker. |

Re: 2.5 Gigapixel picture
While your at it add the other site I posted in that other thread. http://www.tawbaware.com/maxlyons/gigapixel.htm
Obviously... The flash file basically has the picture integrated into it, but it is still the picture. _________________ -Atomic |
