Topaz Adjust
I have only just come across this plug-in filter. It can be overdone but you can get some quite dramatic effects with it that are not TOO surreal. You have to pay for it, but there is a 30 day trial. http://www.topazlabs.com/topazlabs/03products/topaz_adjust/ Here is a photo I took of Ely Catherdral. The first one is untouched from the camera and looks quite drab (I know I could have improved it a lot with levels and curves etc). Next is after the Topaz "Spicify" preset. Even if you decide not to buy it's fun for 30 days ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Re: Topaz Adjust
It would be both unfair and churlish of me not to say thanks for this link. I'm gob-smacked by this program ![]() I have purchased both and delighted with the greater versatility that they offer over Photoshop's own de-noising module. Topaz adjust automatically installs into Photoshop seamlessly. The second beautiful picture of Ely Cathederal tipped the scales forme to take the plunge. So thanks again for the link ![]() |

Re: Topaz Adjust
I'm glad you like it. I think for the price it's very good. I am surprised how well that pic above came out considering it was all done with the preset and no other work. With some time spent on an image it could be even better. How good is the denoise module? I have used NeatImage for noise reduction for ages and am quite loathed to change. But if something better came a long I'd jump ship ![]() Am I going mad or were there three other posts in here yesterday and a mention of Dave Hill the photographer? |

Re: Topaz Adjust
"How good is the denoise module?" It's fantastic: it works! The de-noise filter of CS3 is worse than useless: It doesn't work!. I will be putting an extensive review with lots of photos in the General section later today demonstrating the overall superiority of this module; however, The inbuilt de-noiser of Topaz adjust does not have all the extra controls of the stand-alone Topaz de-noiser. No, you're not going mad, as I had already made a previous response to your link only to find that it had been removed, and since there was nothing to cause offence of any kind repeated the posting--which seems to have stayed. Looks great, will have to try this. I have been playing around with Photomatrix lately, but haven't yet purchased, due to the drop in our dollar. |
