Test Yourself.......
I have just decided to practise doing photoshopping and played with the test yourelf things in the book, here is my take on the cigars in a box one and tell me what you think.

Nicely done, Alex. Perhaps a little bit of shadow on the right end of the cigars, where they are behind the side of the box but otherwise, a great job! _________________ It must be Thursday, I never could get the hang of Thursdays |

Great job! Like the embossing in the lid. It's always tricky making an ellipse fit a distorted rectangle: the trick is to make a new rectangular layer (perhaps stroked rather than filled so you can see what's going on), select that with the object you want to transform, and distort so the rectangular layer matches the lid. That way, you'll know the ellipse will be correctly rendered in perspective. Congratulations on being the first to submit a Test Yourself entry here! Perhaps we need a new section for these… |

Excellent work, James. The shadow is a great addition to the bike - although it seems a fraction too far to the rear. The lowest point of the wheel is in contact with the ground, and that's where the shadow should reach it! I really like the window pic. The reflections, both of the room and the boy, are perfect (except that both should be in front of the brickwork, not behind it). A very neat new spin on the problems! |

Oops! That doesn't seem to be working! Two problems, James: first, you mustn't use any spaces in your file names. And second, when I said put -james at the end, I meant before the .jpg suffix! Without the .jpg at the end, web browsers have no idea what to do with the file, so they just ignore it. So they should be called (for instance) view-james.jpg, wheel-james.jpg and so on. That's why your files aren't showing up - they didn't even upload properly. |
