A door..
Hey hey, so I'm trying to make a door, and this is my second attempt altogether at this Chapter. But is this door okay? Personally I think it looks a little Austin Powers and I've forgotten how to add detail towards the bottom centre, and ignore the picture of a green man behind bars which was my five minute rush attempt at making glass. http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n126/Jdeadevil/DOOR.png Any critique would be gratefully appreciated, because I want to master this. |

Re: A door..
I think the main problem is with the wood texture: it's just too bright and orange. And you do, also have to think about grain direction. The grain needs to run up and down the verticals and left and right on the horizontals - you've got them all going the other way. To make the grain more convincing, I'd recommend squeezing it so it runs longer (although you can keep it like this on the panels, but again rotate 90 degrees here). Avoid obvious repetition by flipping adjacent pieces of grain vertically or horizontally. And remember that while the door itself goes right to the ground, the door frame shouldn't have a horizontal piece at the bottom! |
