Simple Cartoon Blur Effect
I don't know wether this has been done before somewhere else, but i learnt it myself, while playing around. So here it goes..... In this tutorial I will be showing you how to do a simple effect using 1 filter and a layer style. The effect it gives gets rid of the shine in pictures, and, if blurred enough, it gives it a cartoon sort of feel to it. The picture im going to use is one of the living room fireplace from the christmas just gone: ![]() Ok, so lets get started. First off, just select the BACKGROUND LAYER that your image is presented on, and click CTRL+J, this will duplicate the layer. ![]() Now, on the TOP LAYER, change the LAYER STYLE to DARKEN. ![]() Now, with the TOP LAYER still selected, go to FILTERS>BLUR>GAUSSIAN BLUR. ![]() With PREVIEW TICKED so you can see what your doing, give as much blur as you need. I haven't given much blur, because too much blur will make it loose its details and colours. ![]() Well, thats it, its not much, but I had to add something to the Tutorials section! ![]() Heres what it looks like when you finish(NOTE: Because the picture is small, you cant see the details of it, but do it yourself, so you get the idea ![]() ![]() Ok, thats me done. Re: Simple Cartoon Blur Effect
After doing the effect, I got a soft-edged brush, set it to a low opacity, and put a bit of blusher on. ![]() After the transformation: ![]() _________________ 3 Radio Visit http://www.3-radio.co.uk and listen! You will love it! |

Re: Simple Cartoon Blur Effect
I concur. Nice tutorial btw. The result is similar to that of the Squint filter in Eyecandy 4000. |
