ImageReady/Photoshop - Paste over Selection
If you've ever created an animation in either ImageReady or Photoshop CS2 you may have come across a problem with tweening multiple objects. Yes, you can tween a single object over a number of frames but if you need to tween more than one object it often means having to tween the other objects by hand. But there is a solution and you can create very complex animations by following a few simple steps.

Here I have two animations already set up they both contain 8 frames each in 640x480 document (the size of the animation is smaller because I reduced the size in the Save to Web window but I started off at 640x480 so that I could see what I was doing always with the intention of reducing the size during optimisation) .

The first is a backdrop animation where the sun loops across the sky from behind some mountains.

The second one is a looped animation of a tortoise racing across right to left.

Now we need to splice the two animations together to create a single animation with two tweened objects moving in opposite directions (following this tutorial will mean you can keep adding animated objects to build up more complicated animations)

The next step is to Ctrl + Left Mouse Click all the animation frames in the tortoise animation's Animation Window like so.

Then click on the fly-out button (top right of the animation window)
and select "Copy Frames"

You will also notice that in this fly-out menu there is also the corresponding "Paste Frames..." option this is our next step within the sun layer.

So go to the sun layer and Ctrl + Left Mouse Click all the frames within the Animation Window, click on the fly-out menu button and select "Paste Frames..."

You will be then prompted with the Paste Frames Dialogue Box here you need to select "Paste over Selection" from the "Paste Method" as such:

If you have followed the steps closely you will have pasted one animation into another animation and that's how you can build up more complicated tweened animations. You don't have to have two animations of the same length either or the same size. Play around with this feature and get some tremendous results.

Here's the final animation:

Have Fun
