Photoshop practical exercises?
Can anyone recommend any websites that have specific Photoshop exercises/challenges to perform – as opposed to tutorials.

I am not sure how practical this is but, ideally, I would like something that gave out weekly exercises and then followed it up a week or so later with possible solutions. I am not averse to subscription based learning like this, but really am looking for something that requires me to work under my own steam. In a way, a bit like the "Friday Challenges" on this website – but followed up with likely solutions.

I am in that – sort of – intermediate phase as a Photoshop user – lots of theoretical experience but really feeling the need to kick on.

I used to run a workshop like this on drawspace.com, but they've now gone back to traditional pen and pencil only.

Are you sure the Friday Challenge wouldn't do at least part of what you need? Maybe you should try a couple and see.

Hi stedders
Not quite what you were asking for, but have you tried just working through some of the exercises in Steve's 'How to Cheat in Photoshop' books. You can learn a lot there.
Having said that, I should have an other go at some of them.
Good luck

PS and if you want some feedback, why not post your final result in 'The Readers Gallery', somebody is bound to give you feed back.

Re: Photoshop practical exercises?
Hi Stedders… I would also suggest trying to work through the setups in Steve's 100% Photoshop book. The techniques are explained so you can check your abilities and there are a number of final scenes to create. Have a look at the 100% Photoshop section of the forum to see what others have produced. If you can create photorealistic montages then you will have ensured you have taken your photoshop skills to the next level.
Cheers Vern

Hi Stedders,

Agree with others comments.

I also recommend trying the weekly Friday Challenge. Try a few of those, post your results and compare with others who have posted solutions. You may need your full repertoire of skills e.g. learnt from tutorials and own creativity. If that is not the answer you are looking for, at least you can have some fun and most likely it will take you outside your comfort zone often, even if its just trying to get a solution with time available.

Steve's FC feedback each week is helpful. Maybe after working in isolation can miss opportunities or "obvious" problems ..which others may also feel uncomfortable about. Its nice to get positive feedback as well as critique. Also for me and some others "???" . I also find it interesting to read comments on others.

If post problems/questions, as available, some/several will respond depending on topic.

agree with Vern, try 100% Photoshop. See others results posted. Steve's book gives you tools - techniques to apply to your own 100% PS creative work, and/or combine with composite images. The guys here have posted some really great work. Worth while having a look and comments on those threads.

Thanks for the feedback.
I was curious more anything else. I reckon there could be a "gap in the market" for this sort of thing.

I will take a look at the Friday Challenges in future.
