Threshold. Thanks Steve
I have been trying to make use of threshold for ages, but it was never just right. After reading Chapter 03.02 I can now manipulate it to be just as I want. I would spend time sliding the one and only control you have to get the best out of threshold. It never occurred to me to then force it how I want by using the dodge/burn on the underlying image. Not only that..... Filters->Noise->Median too. Like many filters in Photoshop I had tried Median years ago and thought what rubbish. It just makes a photo go funny, and could not see any useat all for it. Combine it with the threshold adjustment layer and it does a fantastic job of cleaning up the little bits of rubbish in the black & white result. I know this book is more about the theory of design rather than actual Photoshop tutorials, but I have learnt some useful Photoshop tricks already. |

Glad to be of help, Paul!. These are not techniques I'd discussed in How to Cheat in Photoshop because they're more graphic than photographic. Good to find a place to talk about them at last! |

I too have just had a play with that page. It never ceases to amaze me what can be done in Photoshop - if there is someone to help you along! Many thanks Steve for another excellent book, and as always your help. |
