Here is my version for this chapter. Everything was made from scratch.

Very fine work, Luis! I like the quality of that glass tube, and the glass face on the dial bottom right is beautiful. I love it when people take my suggestions and then turn them into something remarkable.

Re: Futuretech - Chapter 7
Thanks Trevor and Steve. I'm glad you like it.

The glass effect on the tube and the glass face on the dial was made using only Layer Styles.

I don't know if you knew this, but the image on the screen is based on Chapter 3: Deep Space. If you look closely, you can see inside of the ship.

Very nice work Luis - the attention to detail is superb -- I saved the pic and zoomed in a bit and yes you can see the inner consoles of the ship - I agree with Steve that it is nice you incorporated a bunch of techniques from the book into your own version.

Re: Futuretech - Chapter 7
The glass face on the dial is made up of 5 layers.

It starts out with a gray circle with 3 layer styles added. (layer 172)

On a new layer, I created a new gray circle with 2 layer Styles (Layer 173)

To create the glass, I created a new gray circle and set the blend mode to Hard Light and added 4 Layer Styles. (Layer 174)

Then I created the dial and set the blend mode to Hard Light and added the Inner Shadow. (Layer 175). Then I added the Hue & Saturation.

The glass tube was created the same way using 4 layers.

By combining several Bevel & Emboss settings, and other styles, you can get different results. 3 of the 4 layers had the Bevel & Emboss added to create the glass look. I set the Blend Mode for the 4 layers to Hard Light, Overlay and Lighten.

Great work Luis and agree with others comments.

Thanks for sharing your techniques.

An inspiration and more agree with Steve's comment "...love it when people take my suggestions and then turn them into something remarkable". That is creative part! I like this part!
Also good to follow Steve's skills to fine tune your PS techniques from an expert and learn to refine. But for me 100% PS creativity is a door well opened......

Re: Futuretech - Chapter 7
Thanks ever so much Luis, for this case of study. Combining several Effect layers... Well, that's a very ingenious way to get this result, I must say. And look at your handle (grip)! But let's not forget we got the inspiration from our master, whom seems to ride a bicycle these days!
