Very good! You've really taken on board all the lessons in this tutorial. My only comment is that it's all just a little too dark: lower the opacity on the shadow layer to let more of the background shot through. |

Re: first try
Very nice! I'm going through the book page by page myself--as I'm a complete Photoshop newb--and I aspire to reach what you've already accomplished! Keep it up! There are others trailing behind you that like to see what they will be able to do in the near future! |

Re: first try
If your new to Photoshop I would suggest finding a book that helps you with the basics ( ie. tools, layers etc ) as this book may not have enough detail to help you forward. I would recommend the book "Layers" by Matt Kloskowski as one. Maybe other people on the forum have other recommendations. Don't want to stop you trying, it is just that I came to this book as what I would term an advanced beginner. Basically I knew most of the common tools, keyboard shortcuts, transforms, layer behaviour etc. Even with this, this book has still been really hard work. I would now say I have been upped a level to intermediate after completing the Sam Spud and Drawer projects. |

Re: first try
Thanks for all of the advice. Scoobyclub you are correct, Matt's book on layers helped me a lot. I started out with Photoshop for Dummies, and just kept on going. Steve's book helps me to put all I have studied to use. I have done the space project, and I am now trying to do the desk drawer project. I can't find A Roman Numeral type face for the watch. Does anyone know where it can be found? |

Re: first try
In case you don't read my other post. I just used the Century font in Photoshop. The trick is to squeeze out the default space between the letters so that the IIIs are close enough together. Not sure whether what I have done is quite right as there is a slight radial effect on the letters due to the circular path. I didn't have the patience to create them all individually, which in hindsight, might have been quicker. |
