In tears over wallpaper tears
Hi everyone,

Hopefully a simpler problem this time. I don't find the aging wallpaper steps very clear at all. I have my wallpaper -fine but then I get a little stuck on steps 2 - 6

Firstly: Step one is set to hard light and if I create a mask on this I cannot see what I am drawing unless I set to normal blending mode...so I assume I am meant to create a new layer on step 2?

Second: I create the mask fine but now I cannot draw in it...am I meant to apply the mask first?

Third: I applied the mask but STILL can't draw in it and when I did colours were only coming up as different shades of the wallpaper

Fourth: Creating the clipping mask, does this mean the layer is above or beneath the wallpaper?

Lastly: I notice when I am using the mask I am not getting stark white but rather a opaque colour (no not the red quick mask) but something similar to a blending mode...anything to do with the hard light?

All help is appreciated. I am using CS4. Please be as simplistic as possible, even to the point of patronising, I don't mind I am still learning.

Many thanks in advance.

:-)

Re: In tears over wallpaper tears
Hi everyone! I am back and seem to have solved my own problem. I will write the solution here just in case it helps someone else.

First: I created the "stains" to the wallpaper and created a new layer for step 2

Second: There is no need to "apply" the mask as you can draw underneath it

Third: Same as above, if necessary draw on the background layer (sorry but I still don't understand what happened with the colours but it's fixed if you draw on the background)

Fourth: This should be BENEATH the wallpaper but I don't find it works for me, better to just create another layer

Lastly: This is caused by the hue and saturation layer, clip it to the wallpaper to avoid this. (I did my wallpaper with a pattern fill straight into a marquee as I am not good at drawing)

If anyone has anything to add to what I have said please feel free.

Kind regards
