Re: Introducing 3D Photoshop
Steve - a couple of wording points that might confuse: Page 134 --para 2 --- when we turn the world view (Current View) Page 134 --para 2 --- choose Texture Properties ( Edit UV Properties) Possible other helpful tips: For quicker preview Renders set your High Quality Threshold (3D Preferences) to a lower value ,ie: 2 or3. Increase it for your final render. Rendering times get longer as you add more lights, shadows(particularly soft shadows), objects, etc. If things start to drag turn off unnecessary objects while you work on relevant objects at hand. I also occasionally use the Invisible check box in the Properties Panel to see objects underneath the currently selected object. |

Re: Introducing 3D Photoshop
Well this one slipped past me Steve. I had no idea you had another book out. I will buy the book of course, but I have to say I have never been comfortable with 3D in Photoshop. I thought it would all change with CS6, but I still can't get to grips with it, so I gave up, and rely on the sort of tips I learned in 100% Photoshop. Like giving depth with FT Step & Repeat with this book, starting with a flat image of the front of the book https://www.flickr.com/photos/trevor-dennis/12018225983/ Or with shadows and highlights and layer styles, like with this cupcake https://www.flickr.com/photos/trevor-dennis/13377468584/ The wavy lines were done with the new Distortion feature in Lazy Nezumi, which is such a cool tool and something I highly recommend http://lazynezumi.com/features |

Re: Introducing 3D Photoshop
3D modelling in Photoshop is nothing like as hard as it looks. It takes about the same amount of time to model something like your book as it would do to draw it from scratch, but the difference is you can then stack them up and view them from any angle. Thanks for the Lazy Nezumi link, which looks interesting. I'd never heard of this - sorry to see it's Windows-only. |

Re: Introducing 3D Photoshop
Hi Steve Just bought the book, looking forward to learning something new. Is there any update to 3D in cc 2014? |

Yes, there is - a new way of manipulating the scene, using three small icons at the bottom left of the window; 3D printing, which wasn't there in time for the book; and many speed improvements and other minor enhancements. Well worth the upgrade. |
