Infrared Panorama
I've been waiting for some nice spring sunshine with leaves bursting forth to do some infra red panoramic work. This was shot yesterday at the National Trust's Wakehurst Place a few miles away from me.

The final render consists of 21 photographs stitched together in Autopano. It covers an angle of around 160 degrees and results in an RGB file of 160Mb in Photoshop where the final tweaking was done. The end image is actually the Lightness channel from an Lab conversion.

Re: Infrared Panorama
Gordon, the potentially great effect is spoilt by the greatly reduced image size (no detail that your superb camera would have picked up), and the cropped trees..

Any chance of seeing it in colour?

Re: Infrared Panorama
Michael,
Sorry but Photobucket won't let me post it any larger than this. Any suggestions for linking larger files gratefully accepted.

The image is in infra red so it shouldn't give any colour. Green foliage reflects strongly in the infra red hence the white leaves. There is very little infra red (none!?) in blue skies hence the dark 'colour'. it is possible to use the channel mixer in Photoshop to get a blue sky of sorts but you have to start with some red in the sky from an RGB file. Unfortunately there was no red in any of this series of pics.

Re: Infrared Panorama
Gordon,
I don't understand! Your file size was only 233kb and if you have a free account with Photobucket, then you are allowed a 1mb file limit; however, you should (like me) go for a Pro account for $25 a year which allows you a 5mb file limit.

Here are two pics to show you what I mean (click on the first pic to full window to enlarge:

Re: Infrared Panorama
Thank you Michael. Not being a regular Photobucket user i hadn't noticed that little gizmo. I have amended the original post and placed the new file here:

or a slightly different view

Re: Infrared Panorama
Hey that's much better Gordon. I would love to see a 360 degree panorama also--it can be in colour too

Re: Infrared Panorama
The larger image is very nice. A bit of fake snow on the ground and it looks like a winter scene
