Train La Paz (Bolivia) to Arica (Chile)
The Arica–La Paz railway or Ferrocarril de Arica–La Paz (FCALP) was built by the Chilean government under the Treaty of Peace and Friendship of 1904 between Chile and Bolivia. Here we are on the international boarder at ~4257 meters above sea level in the desert with the vulcanos around. This was a strange train. Combined single carriage for passengers, engine and driver (and a roof rack for the luggage) ! Excellent engineered diesel train by Germany who exported after gone passed its function in Germany. ![]() PS. I took this with old 35mm film camera. I scanned the colour negative with Nikon scanner to create tiff and then used PS to crop, remove noise and scratches.. well done old school camera, film processing, Nikon and PS. |
