For Steve and Anna and others .... Steam punk carousel.
For Steve, Anna and other lovers of oddities and steam punk. This is the carousel which I used for last weeks challenge (Tortoise Shell). Steve guessed it to be from Les Machines de l'île. I honestly don't know - but it wasn't photographed there it was photographed here in Brussels. This splendid carousel comes to Brussels a couple of times a year. It is so like photos I have seen of Machines de L'ïle that it is tempting to feel it probably comes from the same designer/constructer. Maybe they do a hire out service. It's only a two day drive away. Anyway, hope you enjoy.

Comes in just one truck with a trailer. It assembles in about one day. Modern fairground rides are the most astonishing pieces of engineering. There is a big wheel comes every Christmas. It's about eight stories high. It's like one of those transformer toys that were popular years back. Watching the trucks unfold and convert hydraulically into a huge monster with minimal assembly of separate parts is truly fascinating. It's such a small market I often wonder who makes them?
