Re: NZ fungi

Had a look Vibeke. Extraordinary photos. Stunning scenery. So many different shapes and colours of mushrooms. I have never seen a blue one before. The long exposure water ones are gorgeous as is the spiders web with dew on it.

Now, did you find any truffles hidden under the tree roots?

Thank you Anna, I have removed the 's'
No truffles, We were thrilled to find so many Blue ones, Last time we were down there (3 years ago) we only found a couple.

Re: NZ fungi
I presume it's early autumn now for you. Mushroom season.

There are varieties here I have never seen or could never even have imagined existed. The blue is astonishing and the ones like coral too.

Lovely pictures. Well done.

Assuming you have the knowledge and courage, are you allowed to harvest? Heston Blumenthal would have a field day with some of these!

Re: NZ fungi
Thanks Steve and Loyd.
David, Almost winter here, but crazy weather, we hit 2 degrees driving down, it was overcast and drizzly all 3 days but 16 degrees on the last day.
I don't have enough knowledge to harvest and eat, also they are too small ranging in size from 1cm to 5cm.

What an unspoilt place NZ is, and I don't think there's anywhere else that has that variety and delicacy of fungi. Anyway, If your next entry is psychedelic, then we know you've been "nibbling"

We are indeed lucky, perhaps I should have tried some. Most New Zealanders will walk right past them without seeing anything, most are really small. My friend Rebecca and I are getting good at spotting them

Re: NZ fungi
Some really nice work there vibeke. Some of the colours are amazing, particularly the totally unreal blue fungus.

Thank you Gordon, The blue really are amazing. I think they are mainly found on the West Coast. We do get the same species here, but not in that colour.
