1st music video
If you can't beat them, join them.

I think all video creator sites out there are familiar with my name by now. I've used up every credit available that a free user is allowed, seeing if there's any worth in using AI.

I must say, it's been an education.

What I've most been impressed with, is how far AI music has come. If I am able to post this video, you'll hear a song made by Suno AI that I was able to add my own words to. It's really worth while checking the site out, especially if you enjoy your music.

By trying to understand what gets the AI's mind ticking, describe your song, genre etc. You can even add your own words. The ideas are exploding in my head.

I tried to find a subject that affects many families worldwide...drug and alcohol abuse and whether an individual has the backbone and support to be able to stand up after so many falls...and that's the type of song I when for.

The project has resulted in me learning to edit video clips, create AI music to my tastes and stories, create any sound I want, lip sync, basic special effects and many other added and useful tools.

Due to running out of free credit (cheap skate that I am...lol) I noticed that there is a local version of AI video and image generating platform. There's actually a couple...but it's a steep climb to understand it all, for me anyway but that's what I've been playing with.

Let me stop talking nonsense and post the video. So, here's an amateurs take on a music video. There are water marks on some clips that may pose as an indication as the which generators can produce nice clips.

Confession time. The image I posted in this week's challenge, is originally created in AI. I thought it had potential, so I Photoshop'd it. It still took over 70 layers to fix. I do consider AI an additional tool in my palette. In Photoshop, we manipulate images. HOTCHIPS! It just means I have another source for reference. Useful.

Very interesting video, Dennis. One problem with AI videos (and there are many problems) is the lack of coherence – you tend to get a cast of dozens of characters, but can’t reliably feature the same one in separate scenes.

I do like your manipulation of the underwater man.

Well Dennis it won't come as a surprise to you that I also have reservations.

This is of course on some levels stunning. But no matter how much effort of your own you put in (and from what I know of you I am sure it was enormous) the medium still absorbs and overpowers the creator. That unmistakable slick AI simulacrum manages to undermine your obvious good intentions by making them look synthesised.

I also agree with Steve about lack of coherence. This takes me back years and years to film student days when there was a tendency to put all your best most impressive shots together without real coherence under the guise of "surrealism". The 'dream sequence' was a very common and over used favourite.

On another level entirely, your underwater man put me instantly in mind of something I saw recently. The link is below. When you see it you will be tempted to think I am trying to undermine you by pointing you at it. Believe me I am not. It's purely the inescapable visual similarity that struck me, not the intention behind it.

I know you are fascinated by comic strip art and you will see Hayao Miyazaki of Studio Ghibli, one of Japan's most celebrated manga animators, expressing his feelings about AI. It's easy to dismiss as another old man unable to accept change ...... but it's heartfelt!

I am pointing you at it because I think it will genuinely interest and touch you, knowing you are someone who has passionate feelings about how people perceive and treat one another. "I tried to find a subject that affects many families worldwide...drug and alcohol abuse and whether an individual has the backbone and support to be able to stand up after so many falls..."

Miyazaki echoes in much, much stronger form my own disquiet about AI, which is basically that it is not human. I am personally fearful that the dividing line between not human and inhuman could become increasingly blurred.

It's here. Read the intro about him first then play the animation.
