Retouch Pro Selections and Pen Tool - rebroadcast
This Wednesday I'll be doing another Retouch Pro webinar, on making selections in Photoshop. Effective Photoshop work is all about making selections. We'll look at how to use modifier keys to extend the functionality of all the standard selection tools; how to use QuickMask to make awkward and soft selections; the best use of the Quick Selection tool, and some surprising uses for the Refine Edge dialog. And we'll also, once and for all, nail that most tricky of selection devices - the Pen tool. The webinar is at 2pm CDT, which is 8pm BST and still horribly early in the morning in the antipodes! Hello Steve, Thanks for that. Although some of it was basic, I still learnt new ways of selection, but there was one bit I can't quite remember: You selected the background part of the image of the glass and hand then inverted it, then went into quick mask to select the rest. All fine so far, but when you selected the parts of the glass that were going to be opaque how did you do that? Did you delete them from the mask and then fill with 50% grey (which doesn't sound right). Many thanks. |

Thanks for joining in, Deborah. I selected the transparent areas with a combination of the Lasso and the Elliptical Marquee, then used the Curves dialog to brighten the black to 50% grey - although Brightness & Contrast or Levels would have done the job just as well. |

Many thanks Steve. I definitely did not remember that, but it is now stored - somewhere! |
