Re: Banner designs
Thank you Wayne! after the 5th time I ended up with "Banana" I Googled Pearl and Dean as I have never heard of it before..yes I can see similarities. The starburst and backlit letters work very well. _________________ Wicked Witch of the West: I'm melting! I'm melting! |

Re: Banner designs
Nice work Wayne and thank you. Now there are enough banners for four weeks. Here's my new banner built with lego bricks: [Deleted] _________________ Stefano |

Photoshop: The Musical? To be sung to the tune of Herb Alpert's "Spanish Flea". Sorry if the words don't quite tie up with the notes; my musical ability requires just a tad more practice. _________________ Why isn't 'phonetic' spelled the way it sounds? |

Thank you Kuham. Hope this helps 1. Create first layer using 462e00 2. 2nd layer is a manuscript image – using Luminosity as the Blending Mode 3. 3rd layer is the 2nd layer copied, Gaussian blur applied, Overlay as Blending Mode 4. 4th layer is a vellum texture – Multiply Blending Mode and 37% opacity 5. Text Layer – Drop Shadow, Bevel and Emboss and Inner Glow 6. 6th layer – is 4th layer duplicated and used as a clipping mask with the text 7. 7th layer – image of candle 8. 8th layer is candelight – Fill layer with black. Add layer mask and using a soft edge brush paint on the light then use Hard Light blending mode and 58% opacity _________________ Dorothy: "there's no place like home!" |

Re: Banner designs
Gordon, love all your entries. Would love to know how you got such a good effect on the letters of the top one. I also really like the second one. Did you make that background? And such a clever use of (I presume) the stroke. The musical interlude also great fun. |

Re: Banner designs
Anna, many thanks for the tutorial. I wouldn't have thought of starting with such a dark bg but it works beautifully. Love the end result. |

Re: Banner designs
Hi Sophie, Thank you for your kind comments. I had a sudden rush of blood to the head and came up with the four ideas almost all at once. I made the banners as a much larger file than required and then reduced the size to 750px x 150px The ‘lava’ letters were quite simple to do. I sampled a red from the background lava image and used that to fill the letters. An inner shadow (black) was applied along with an outer glow using a sampled yellow from the background. A copy was made for the reflection which was distorted using a blurred version of the background. After that it was just a case of using the smudge tool at a low setting to draw out the wisps of ‘fire’ from the letters. As you already have the shadow and glow applied it is applied live to the wisps. The needlework design was made using a square Path and filled with colour then a canvas texture was applied. This was duplicated and moved to give a quilt effect. The stitches were made by stroking the already made path with brush shape dynamics set at 1000% spacing, angle of 90º, a roundness of around 5%, angle jitter set to 0% and control set to direction. The various fabrics were just clipped to the letters and butterflies with just a teeny weeny bit of embossing and drop shadow to lift them up from the background Gordon _________________ Why is there only one body to investigate Monopolies ? |
